Redefining Progress, a nonprofit sustainability think tank, established the Regional Sustainability initiative in 2003 to serve the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.

San Francisco Bay Area Analysis
The Regional Sustainability Initiative is housed within the Sustainability Indicators Program at Redefining Progress. A core RSI activity is the application of RP’s measurement tools, including the Genuine Progress Indicator and the Ecological Footprint, to the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.
