
Redefining Progress, a nonprofit sustainability think tank, established the Regional Sustainability initiative in 2003 to serve the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.

The Hacienda Business Park, located in an outlying suburb of San Francisco, reached its limits for business-related uses. However, it boasted additional space, infrastructure capacity, and a prime location near the transit line. RP conducted an S2 analysis in order to evaluate the impacts of housing alternatives in the City of Pleasanton’s new General Plan, comparing economic and ecological impacts of accommodating Pleasanton’s remaining housing needs within the Hacienda Business Park (transit-oriented development) as opposed to outlying locations or other infill further from transit.
